(phew I must be very smart)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Final thoughts, inspired by the Geodesign summit 2013\" href=\"http:\/\/www.geoplanit.co.uk\/?p=867\">This is part 2 of a larger blog post, you can read the introduction here.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_908\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-908\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geoplanit.co.uk\/?attachment_id=908\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-908\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-908\" alt=\"lazyboy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geoplanit.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/lazyboy.jpg?resize=300%2C187\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geoplanit.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/lazyboy.jpg?resize=300%2C187&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.geoplanit.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/lazyboy.jpg?w=401&amp;ssl=1 401w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-908\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lazy image for a lazy post?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A familiar phrase from my close family members (siblings) is to prefix my name with the words &#8220;Easy life&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 Rather than reject it I have taken it as my mantra in some respects, although I like to call it the &#8220;<strong>path of least resistance<\/strong>&#8220;!\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0What it really means is that I don&#8217;t always have to take the time to know in detail something, I&#8217;m also quite comfortable not reinventing the wheel (example <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smustard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">smustard.com<\/a> for SketchUp Ruby scripts I don&#8217;t program in Ruby, but other people do).\u00a0\u00a0 You have to be <em>careful<\/em> of course otherwise you may get too reliant on other people and end up knowing nothing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bran_Ferren\" target=\"_blank\">Bran Ferran<\/a> talked about it in relation to the military and assessing who made good commanders (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gogeomatics.ca\/magazine\/geodesign-reflections-on-the-2013-summit.htm\" target=\"_blank\">see this article at GoGeomatics Canada, for his neat diagram, where are you I wonder?<\/a>).\u00a0 His main point was that smart lazy people create self correcting systems (so they don&#8217;t have to be there all the time), it make sense when you think about it.<\/p>\n<p>I think there is some mileage in this idea to, but you can&#8217;t be too lazy or nothing gets done (including this blog post).\u00a0 I&#8217;m a great believer in being comfortable with not knowing everything, just tell me the basics and what the application is of that knowledge and I am more than happy not to understand the deeper science behind something.<\/p>\n<p>In a sense if there is a to be a profession of pure <strong>Geodesigners<\/strong> we will have to find the smart lazy people who can manage all this data properly. \u00a0 They cannot get bogged down in the individual detail of a discipline. \u00a0 The essence of geodesign is to take into account all factors relating to a\u00a0particular\u00a0design and manage the competition between those factors (whatever that is).<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Conversations and short attention spans\" href=\"http:\/\/www.geoplanit.co.uk\/?p=889\">Next 3 Conversations and Short Attention Spans<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is part 2 of a larger blog post, you can read the introduction here.
