{"id":63,"date":"2010-05-08T13:03:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-08T13:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/geoplanit.co.uk\/?p=63"},"modified":"2010-05-08T13:03:00","modified_gmt":"2010-05-08T13:03:00","slug":"arcgis-one-or-more-layers-failed-to-draw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.geoplanit.co.uk\/?p=63","title":{"rendered":"ArcGIS : One or more layers failed to draw."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>One or more layers failed to draw. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Labelling is very important in map making which is and I occasionally see this error message, now I won&#8217;t pretend to know exactly what is going on.&nbsp;&nbsp; This error message (without any detail) happens to me when I have used a layer and have opted to label each feature differently (through an SQL query).&nbsp;&nbsp; I think it happens when you relocate a database or MXD file and somehow the SQL query breaks. &#8211; <span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">I&#8217;d appreciate any insight into this if you have any&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The solution is simple:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click and select properties on your labelled layer (this isn&#8217;t an Annotation issue)<\/li>\n<li>Now click on the Labels tab.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8220;Get Symbol Classes&#8221; and say Yes to overwriting the previous classes.<\/li>\n<li>Now click on the SQL Query button.<\/li>\n<li>In the SQL query dialog box delete the old query and redo the query again.<\/li>\n<li>Your features should now be labelled properly, Click Apply and then OK<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Related: <a href=\"http:\/\/resources.arcgis.com\/content\/kbase?fa=articleShow&amp;d=22547\">ArcGIS Support fourm 22547 <\/a><\/p>\n<ol><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One or more layers failed to draw.
